The biggest challenge is to make the subject comfortable and let down the veil of self-consciences that most people carry. This allows the persons true beauty and life come through the portrait and creates a stamp of immortality through the image. Many shoot require creative flexibility, whether a client requires a serious motif or I’m given free creative reign (in which case there’s no limit to the possibilities.)
Every new person I photograph requires personalized and varying methods to help them relax and open up for the camera. I’ve worked with professionals who have all their angles and “looks” already down. I enjoy working more with every day people, helping them feel beautiful and proving to even the most skeptical that you don’t have to be a model to be photogenic.
This results and beautiful and honest photographs of people that they feel comfortable sharing with the world. I love when my photographs are set as Facebook profile photos, everyone loves them.
